Yard civil engineer

Purpose of the job
Yard Manager shall assist Yard Civil Manager in successful execution of a container yard and wood yard, particularly focusing on the civil engineering aspects of pavement, roads, culverts, minor bridges, yard buildings, sheds, utilities, compound wall etc and associated yard structures.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable with creating an engineering plan for land development based on their calculations and any research conducted. They should have experience with AutoCAD and be able to utilize strong design skills in order to create visual aids. By utilizing strong organizational and communication skills, this candidate will also have the ability to execute a project based on the criteria outlined.
Responsibilities
Work closely with project managers to establish project timelines and designs
Develop diagrams and visual aids and prepare design specifications
Execute project based on outlined criteria
Project Planning and Coordination:
- Assist Yard Civil manager in Developing and reviewing detailed project execution plans for yard and related yard structures.
- Assist Yard Civil manager in Ensuring compliance with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Site Management and Execution:
- Supervise all civil construction activities related to yard works and interface with jetty works.
- Monitor foundation works, piling, concrete works, precast installations and backup area development works.
Resource and Contractor Management:
- Assist Yard Civil manager in Managing yard contractors and subcontractors to ensure proper manpower, materials and equipment deployment from time to time.
- Assist Yard Civil manager in Scheduling and allocation resources (materials, equipment, labor) for smooth execution including supply of free issue materials.
Quality Assurance & Control:
- Implement and enforce QA/QC plans specific to marine and civil works.
- Ensure regular inspections, tests (e.g., CBR, pile integrity, concrete tests etc), and documentation.
- Enforce strict adherence to HSE protocols on works and constantly support the safety Manager.
- Provide required inputs for the safety audits and toolbox talks.
- Implement risk mitigation plans for working in yard area in consultation with the safety manager.
Progress Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track daily, weekly, and monthly progress of civil works.
Permitting and Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure civil works comply with local and environmental regulations
- Support permitting processes (e.g., land clearing, reclamation etc)
Commissioning and Handover:
- Assist in documentation and handover of completed jetty works to the operations team or client.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering
- Minimum 10 plus years ( With Degree) or 15 plus years ( with Diploma) as Civil Engineer in quality control and supervision of Port backup area works
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication skills and design skills
- Involved in interface management between various disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, etc.
- Good communication skills in English • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and peak execution periods
