PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Assistant Manager Finance is responsible for supporting financial planning, accounting, reporting, compliance, internal controls, and business partnering activities. The role requires strong expertise in SAP ERP (FI/CO, MM, SD integration) to ensure accurate financial transactions, timely reporting, and effective financial management across the organization.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions in SAP.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and local statutory requirements.
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Review general ledger accounts and ensure reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
  • Monitor accruals, provisions, and prepayments.

SAP Finance Management

  • Act as the key finance user for SAP FI/CO modules.
  • Manage and monitor SAP master data related to finance operations.
  • Ensure correct integration between SAP FI/CO, MM, SD, and Treasury modules.
  • Support SAP implementation, upgrades, testing, and process improvements.
  • Troubleshoot SAP-related finance issues and coordinate with IT and business users.
  • Develop SAP reports and dashboards to improve financial visibility.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Assist in preparing annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Monitor actual performance against budget and analyze variances.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to management.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Oversee vendor payments and customer collections.
  • Ensure timely processing of invoices and payment approvals.
  • Monitor aged receivables and follow up on outstanding balances.

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, tax regulations, and financial procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Strengthen internal control systems and identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure adherence to statutory requirements in Cameroon.

Taxation

  • Assist in preparation and filing of VAT, corporate tax, withholding tax, and other statutory returns.
  • Coordinate with tax authorities and external consultants as required.
  • Ensure tax compliance and timely payments.

COMMUNICATION AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Internal Relationships

The Assistant Manager Finance will work closely with:

  • Finance Controller
  • Country Management Team
  • Accounting and Finance India staff
  • Procurement and Supply Chain teams
  • Sales and Commercial teams
  • IT and SAP Support Teams
  • Internal Audit and Compliance teams

External Relationships

The Assistant Manager Finance will maintain effective working relationships with:

  • External Auditors
  • Tax Authorities and Statutory Government Agencies in Cameroon
  • Banks and Financial Institutions
  • Vendors and Suppliers
  • Customers (for finance-related matters)

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES

Business Partnering

  • Provide financial support to operational and commercial teams.
  • Analyze business performance and profitability.
  • Support decision-making through financial modeling and analysis.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise finance executives and accounting staff.
  • Provide coaching and training on SAP finance processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.

EDUCATION/TRAININGS/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related field.
  • Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent is preferred.
  • 5–8 years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on SAP FI/CO experience.
  • Experience working in multinational or infra development is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Cameroonian tax, OHADA law and statutory regulations is must.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Monthly financial reports submitted on or before deadline (%)
  • Balance sheet reconciliation completion rate (%)
  • Timely completion of annual budget process
  • Days Sales Outstanding (DSO)
  • Vendor payment timeliness (%)
  • Audit issues closed within agreed timeline (%)
  • Tax and other statutory filings submitted on time (%)
