Job description

Qualification: Bachelors in Civil Engineering / Masters in water resources / Environmental Engineering/ Hydraulics/ Mechanical Engineering/ or equivalent

Experience and Skills:

  • Graduate Engineer with post graduate degree in public health engineering or equivalent from a reputed institution.
  • At least 10 years experience in planning, designing, detailed engineering, detailed cost estimation, specifications and drawings preparation for storm drainage projects.
  • Must have experience of greenfield and brownfield urban, Urban/ Industrial township projects / Port/ Airport /SEZ projects.
  • Must have sound knowledge of urban hydrology, storm water modelling, IRC and CPHEEO manual standards on Storm Water Drainage Systems.
  • Must have knowledge of rainfall analysis, generation of IDF curves, catchment analysis for drainage network designs.
  • Proficiency in design software such as SewerGems/ SewerCAD, EPANET, SWMM, MIKE URBAN, HEC-HMS/RAS and drawing software such as AutoCad/ Civil 3D/ GIS or equivalent.
  • Should have experience in network design optimization, sustainable solutions, risk assessments and coordination with other infrastructure services and utilities.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of applicable manuals/ guidelines/ IS codes/ applicable standards. International experience will be preferable.
  • Should have experience of site visits, client interactions for technical discussion/ presentation, experience of preparing BOQs, cost estimates, specifications, Tender/ Bid document for storm drainage projects.
  • Should be familiar with MS Office (Work, Excel, Power Point) and Outlook for preparing reports and presentations.

Duties and Responsibilities

The main duties and responsibilities of the Storm Drainage Design Engineer will be, but not limited to, the following:

  • Carry out site visits, data collections, meetings with project stakeholders to firm up project brief and requirements at an early stage.
  • Carry out concept design, detailed engineering and prepare Good for Construction (GFC) drawings for storm drainage components.
  • Providing design calculations and drawings for storm water drain, channel, reservoirs, retention ponds etc.
  • Providing required and necessary technical specifications for construction materials and construction activities.
  • Work in coordination with other teams such as urban planners, urban designers, architects, estimators, CAD and GIS experts for various tasks.
  • Providing required technical information to procurement expert/ QS, Infrastructure Expert/ Project Manager.
  • Respond timely to all technical issues associated to storm drainage components from stakeholders/ contractors during feasibility, design, bidding and implementation stages.
  • Providing maintenance plan for storm drainage components for further operational and maintenance of the completed works.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities which may be assigned by the HOD or Project Manager
