JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: PHE Engineer

Department: O&M

Reports to: O&M Manager/Head

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operation and maintenance of water supply, sewerage management, drainage, and firefighting systems within the SEZ, supporting uninterrupted industrial and commercial operations within the industrial Zone.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Water Supply & Distribution:

  • Ensure continuous and reliable water supply across the SEZ.
  • Effectively operate and maintain Water extraction source either borewell or River water intake, water treatment plants, pumping stations, and distribution networks.
  • Plan and monitor annual preventive maintenance, Predictive maintenance and overhauling of static and rotating equipment’s.
  • Monitor water quality and ensure compliance with standards in line with state regulations.
  • Ensure customer grievances are addressed on time.
  • Ensure adherence to international safety standards and company’s HSE policies.

2. Sewerage & Wastewater Management:

  • Operate and maintain sewage treatment plants (STP) and effluent treatment plants (ETP).
  • Ensure proper disposal and treatment of wastewater as per state environmental norms.
  • Monitor system performance and optimize treatment efficiency.
  • Effectively plan manpower, Chemical, Consumables and spares to operate the plant on 24X7 basis.
  • Ensure the preventive and corrective maintenance are carried out on time to keep the system healthy.

3. Storm Water & Drainage Systems:

  • Properly maintain stormwater drainage systems to prevent flooding inside the zone.
  • Ensure proper design and upkeep of drainage networks
  • Conduct periodic inspections, especially before monsoon seasons

4. Firefighting Systems:

  • Maintain firefighting infrastructure including hydrants, pumps, tanks and pipelines
  • Ensure system readiness and compliance with fire safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with HSE/State fire brigade for regular trial & testing.

5. Infrastructure Development & Projects:

  • Review and validate PHE designs for new developments of industrial zone or any expansion.
  • Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of PHE systems.
  • Ensure compliance with SEZ regulations and local engineering standards.

6. Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards in line with internal SOP’s and state regulation.
  • Maintain records, reports, and statutory documentation.
  • Conduct audits and inspections of PHE systems by coordinating with various stakeholders.

COMMUNICATION AND RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Good interpersonal relations with the internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintaining good relations with subcontractors, suppliers, and other collaborators to achieve the objective.
  • Good coordination within the team of technicians/engineers and inters department.
  • Seamless Coordination with state utility providers, government authorities, and regulatory bodies
  • Support industrial customers with technically if required.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong knowledge on water supply, sewerage, and drainage systems.
  • Experience in STP/ETP operations and water treatment processes.
  • Experience in installation, testing, commissioning, operation & maintenance PHE system.
  • Understanding of firefighting systems and safety standards.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and environmental regulations.
  • Good planning, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Innovative towards sustainability practices (water recycling, reuse systems)

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Public Health Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
  • 4–8 years of experience in industrial zones, SEZs, utility providers, infrastructure projects, or Smart Cities.
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater systems.
  • Proven experience in the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater distribution networks, including metering systems.
  • Experience working with state utility providers or utility distribution companies will be an added advantage.

  • Timely completion of maintenance and assigned projects.
  • Reduction in water losses and operational inefficiencies.
  • Effective reconciliation of import vs. export.
