JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Department: O&M

Reports to: O&M Manager/Head

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operation and maintenance of electrical infrastructure within the SEZ, including HT/LT power distribution, substations, Electrical utilities, customer connections, Metering management, Power reconciliation and effective reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Electrical Operations & Maintenance

  • Ensure smooth operation of electrical distribution systems including substations, transformers, HT/LT networks, and switchgear
  • Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Monitor customer connection points, power quality, load management, and system reliability.
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults and ensure minimal downtime. Aim to achieve “0” breakdown of electrical equipment’s.
  • In-house maintenance (Preventive & corrective) of various capacity of DG’s by ensuring “0” downtime.
  • Ensure adherence to electrical safety standards and HSE policies

2. Energy Management & Reporting

  • Monitor energy consumption across the zone
  • Prepare monthly energy reports (import vs consumption, losses, billing data)
  • Ensure accurate metering and customer invoicing
  • Optimize electrical load distribution to reduce T&D losses

3. Infrastructure & Project Development

  • Review and validate electrical drawing/TDS/TS/FQP for electrical projects for industrial zone and infrastructure projects according to the local applicable standard and regulatory compliant.
  • Support and effective supervision for installation, testing, and commissioning of complete electrical systems.
  • Ensure compliance with SEZ standards, safety codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and implement energy-efficient solutions.
  • Ensure the electrical system installed by maintenance friendly manner.
  • Ensure adherence to electrical safety standards and HSE policies

COMMUNICATION AND RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Good interpersonal relations with the internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintaining good relations with subcontractors, suppliers, and other collaborators to achieve the objective.
  • Good coordination within the team of technicians/engineers and inters department.
  • Seamless Coordination with state utility providers, government authorities, and regulatory bodies
  • Support industrial customers with technical electrical requirements if required.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong knowledge of electrical power systems and distribution networks
  • Expertise in substations, transformers, and industrial electrical systems
  • Proficiency in electrical design and calculation tools
  • Good understanding of energy management and efficiency practices
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Project management, Maintenance management and team coordination ability

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Certification in Project Management or Operations Management will be an added advantage.
  • 5–10 years of experience in industrial zone, energy & utility sector, or SEZ infrastructure.
  • Proven experience in the operation and maintenance of HT/LT electrical distribution systems and smart energy distribution.
  • Experience working with state electricity providers or utility distribution companies will be an added advantage.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

  • Target for 100% completion of preventive maintenance as per schedule.
  • Monthly electricity consumptions record, invoices deliverable on time.
  • Achievement of annual maintenance schedule with necessary documentation as per process audit requirement.
  • Effectively reporting import Vs. Export with minimum T&D losses.
