Job Summary
Jetty Civil Manager shall be responsible for the successful execution of a marine terminal project, particularly focusing on the civil engineering aspects of jetty construction, dredging and associated marine structures.
Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Coordination:
- Develop and review detailed project execution plans for Berth and related marine structures.
- Coordinate with project stakeholders including users, consultants, contractors, and local authorities.
- Ensure compliance with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Develop the overall execution plan for the port project.
- Coordinate with design consultants for structural adequacy and constructability.
- Site Management and Execution:
- Oversee all on-site civil construction activities related to jetty works and interface with yard and other utilities.
- Monitor piling /Sheet piling, concrete works, precast installations and jetty construction techniques
- Review and assist the project director in approval of method statements and other documents submitted by the contractors for approval.
- Resource and Contractor Management:
- Manage civil contractors and subcontractors to ensure proper manpower, materials and equipment deployment from time to time.
- Schedule and allocate resources (materials, equipment, labor) for smooth execution including supply of free issue materials.
- Resolve on-site construction issues and interface challenges between civil and back area development.
- Quality Assurance & Control:
- Implement and enforce QA/QC plans specific to marine and civil works.
- Ensure regular inspections, tests (e.g., pile integrity, concrete tests), and documentation.
- Enforce strict adherence to HSE protocols on works and constantly support the safety Manager.
- Provide required inputs for the safety audits and toolbox talks.
- Implement risk mitigation plans for working in marine and tidal zones in consultation with the safety manager.
- Bill Certification : Assist the Project director in review and approval of running bills submitted by the Contractors duly reviewing its completeness in terms of quantity measurements, quality and other contractual obligations.
- Progress Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track daily, weekly, and monthly progress of civil works.
- Prepare reports for management and clients, including delays and mitigation plans.
- Maintain detailed records of construction activities for billing and contractual compliance.
- Interface Management:
- Coordinate between jetty works and yard civil infrastructure (e.g., yard pavement, approach roads, utilities etc).
- Resolve technical and logistical interfaces between mechanical, electrical, and civil teams
- Permitting and Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure civil works comply with marine and environmental regulations
- Support permitting processes (e.g., dredging permits, coastal zone clearances)
- Commissioning and Handover:
- Oversee final inspections, punch list clearance, and commissioning support.
- Assist in documentation and handover of completed jetty works to the operations team or client.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Masters in Project Management would be added advantage
- Minimum 15 plus years as Civil Engineer in quality control and supervision of Port projects
- Involved in interface management between various disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, coastal, numerical modeling, etc.
- Good communication skills in English
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and peak execution periods
