JOB TITLE: Civil Engineer

REPORTS TO: Construction Manager

Job summary:

Responsible for providing support on work execution, supervision and design.

Essential function:

• Organize site activities to coordinate with site engineers, manage issues as per related project.
• Responsible for checking shop/design drawings before site application.
• Manage materials used at site including concrete, steel bars, etc..
• Evaluation and analysis of Bill of Quantities and Rates.
• Checking preliminary & final project designs.
• Review contract drawings, specifications and conditions of contract.
• Monitor of Project schedule and material reconciliation.
• Manage Subcontractors & Project Management Consultant.
• Interface with intra and external department, authorities etc.

Functional Qualification:

• 4-year degree in Civil Engineering

Experience:

• Minimum 8 years experience after graduation.
• Proficient experience in earthwork, pavement, structures, storm drain, grading in construction of large industrial or infrastructural projects.
• Africa experienced is required.
• Through knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
• Proven ability to perform in technical role, good written and oral communication.
• Knowledge of current technology and its effective use on the project.

Core Competencies:

• Computer & Software: Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, Power Point , AutoCAD and MS project.
• Language: Fluent in English with professional skills in report writing.

Knowledge of Local Nigerian language is an added advantage.

Job-Specific Competencies:

• Computer & Software: MS Project, AutoCAD
• Fully familiar with project planning practices, methodologies and procedures and to be able to apply these to complex projects.
• Building & Infrastructure Construction: Knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in the construction of buildings or other infrastructure works.
• Critical Thinking: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
• Complex Problem Solving: Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
