Job Title : HS Country Manager
Department : Health Safety Environment

Reports to : Country Business Head
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement Country HSE Policies and management systems to eliminate, control general risk factors associated with company projects and operations.
- Ensuring that company projects & operations are in complaince with Country OHS regulations, ISO 45001 :2018 standards and best industry practices (including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001).
- Develop ARISE IIP Health & Safety culture at the country levels by promoting awareness on HSE programs, policies, and processes at all levels among employees to create sense of shared responsibilities and vigilance.
- Provide Training, Orientation and Induction for company workforce, contractors, visitors and partners employees about safety policies, procedures, emergency response plans, and the correct -safer of equipment.
- Arrange Incident investigation, reporting and general HS incident case management at workplaces, at country level- when accidents happen. Safety Manager’s step in to investigate to determine the root cause of incidents and develop strategies including corrective and preventive measures to prevent future occurrences.
- Routine Health Safety inspections at workplace and at company facilities to check equipment integrity, workspaces, unsafe practices, deviation from HS processes to ensure compliance with safety standards
- Reporting and documentation; to maintain detailed records of inspection, incidents and training sessions to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Construction sites - preventing accidents related to heavy machinery, heights, and hazardous materials, ensure all safety gear is used correctly and that safety protocols are strictly followed.
- Manufacturing & Processing factories – Focus on machinery operation, chemical handling and emphasize machine safety, ergonomics, and proper handling procedures.
- Carry out HSE audits at workplaces on equipment and other infrastructures to ensure complaince, review equipment integrity and improvement of workers welfare systems.
- Develop process and plans for emergency response procedure activation for various types of emergencies, such as fires, chemical spills, injuries, medical conditions at work or natural disasters.
- Manages company stakeholders – represent the company in managing demands from the partners, national agencies, contractors, Lenders, Consultants, Auditors and public on HSE regulations and management systems.
- Support Group HS head for developing and implementing corporate HS programs including critical 6 strategy, standardization of processes across projects and operations, achieving high compliance levels in certification (ISO 45001; ISO 9001; ISO 14001 etc), SAFER, and implementation of HS systems to enhance Arise culture building.
- Ensure the execution of corporate annual health trainings, events and programs covering ergonomics, stress management, malaria control etc.
- Ensure to remain current in the HS industry to adopt trends in the industry and implement changes to achieve continual improvement - reviewing and improving safety policies and procedures to enhance the overall safety of the workplace.
KNOWLEDGE/COMPETENCIES
- OHS Regulations, WHO EHS & World Bank framework Guidelines, ISO 14001;9001& 45001 standards and NEBOSH IGC, IOSH etc. OFFICE TOOLS SKILLS SET REQUIRED
- Proficient in Microsoft office applications (Excel, word, and PowerPoint)
- Fluent in English and French languages
- Excellent organizational, Project management and Time Management skills
EDUCATION/TRAININGS/EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree or International Diploma in OHS management, or other related fields.
- Minimum 10 years in HS Safety management systems
- Implementation of ISO 9001;14001 & 45001 Management Systems
- Member of any international or National HS bodies
- Exposed to IFC / WB performance standards and implementation of ESIA / RAP/LRP
