Job Summary

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the mechanical design and industrialization of our core systems. You will translate process requirements into robust, manufacturable, and certifiable equipment. You will be responsible for the mechanical architecture of reactors and skids, ensuring compliance with safety standards and industry regulations, and driving the transition from prototype to industrial-grade systems.

You will work closely with the Process team, suppliers, and EPC partners to deliver reliable and scalable hardware solutions, while acting as a technical advisor to the CTO and leadership team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Mechanical design & system engineering 🛠️

    • Own the mechanical design and architecture of reactors, thermal systems, and supporting equipment.

    • Translate process requirements into robust, manufacturable mechanical designs.

    • Perform mechanical calculations and select appropriate equipment, materials, and components.

    • Produce and validate 3D models and manufacturing drawings for systems at different scales.

    • Define mechanical design standards and documentation practices.

  • Industrialization & hardware deployment 🏭

    • Lead the transition from lab prototypes to industrial pilot hardware.

    • Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards and safety regulations.

    • Interface with fabricators, suppliers, and external engineering partners.

    • Oversee fabrication, assembly, and installation of pilot systems.

    • Support commissioning and troubleshooting of mechanical systems.

  • Reliability & design improvement 🔧

    • Identify design improvements to reduce cost, simplify manufacturing, and improve durability.

    • Perform root cause analysis on mechanical failures.

    • Contribute to risk assessments and safety reviews (e.g., HAZOP, mechanical integrity).

    • Support the long-term hardware design strategy for commercial deployment.

Profile

  • Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial mechanical design, ideally in high-temperature, pressure, or energy systems.

  • Experience contributing to or managing pilot plant design, construction, and installation.

  • Strong knowledge of reactor or pressure equipment design, structural analysis, and material selection.

  • Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks or equivalent) and production of manufacturing drawings.

  • Familiarity with relevant engineering standards and directives for industrial equipment.

  • Experience working closely with fabrication workshops, suppliers, and industrial partners.

Additional Assets 💡

  • Exposure to startup or first-of-a-kind industrial projects.

  • Experience in carbon capture, power-to-X, or fuel synthesis technologies.

  • Experience in startup or scale-up environments.

  • Familiarity with process safety and regulatory compliance for chemical processes.

Conditions

  • 📄 Contract: Full-time (”CDI”)

  • 🏢 Location: Campus Air Liquide, Les Loges-en-Josas (France)

  • 💰Compensation: competitive salary, starting from €65K gross annual, adjusted according to experience + bonus.

  • 💙 Benefits: we offer flexible hours and leave, remote work options, growth opportunities, continuous training, regular team-building events, as well as coverage for health insurance, transportation, and sports activities.
